Moose harvested in the Chilcotin sub-Region (Management Units 5-03 to 5-06 and 5-10 to 5-14) are now required to be Compulsory Inspected. The Compulsory Inspection requirement for Chilcotin moose was implemented to verify harvest estimates derived from the Hunter Survey and to provide important biological samples. Refer to page 21 of the 2016-2018 Hunting and Trapping Regulations Synopsis for more information and specific requirements:
IMPLEMENTATION STRATEGY:
FLNRO acknowledges that the implementation of Compulsory Inspections for Chilcotin moose may be inconvenient for certain hunters. As a step to improve the accessibility of Compulsory Inspections, the Cariboo Region Fish and Wildlife Section has secured three new contractors to conduct Compulsory Inspections, one based in Williams Lake, one based in Quesnel, and one based in Alexis Creek. Additionally, Compulsory Inspections will now be available at the 100 Mile District Office.
Compulsory Inspections are by appointment only. Inspectors would greatly appreciate if calls are limited to 8:30am through 5:00pm. The below chart contains Compulsroy Inspection contact information for each Cariboo Region community. Province-wide Compulsory Inspection contact information is available online at:
